Today I'm going to talk about the smallest falcon in the earth, and this one is the "American Kestrel" also known in spanish as "Cernícalo", his scientific name is
Falco sparverius, this falcon is the smallest with only 25 cm long and 55 cm width with open wings maximum, the male is even more smaller than the female, this bird is really cool, it have blue feathers in they head, and also male have blue feathers on they wings, the female have brown wings and some of feathers of the same type of color in the top of they head, the distribution of this bird is all way from Canada to Tierra del fuego, so if you live in the american continent you may see a American Kestrel on a open field, like cultive ones, pastures and in the Andes, the diet of the American Kestrel is in base of insects and really small mammals, the way of killing that American Kestrel uses is by hovering and falling as quickly they can so they kill the prey quickly. Having a good eye may guide to see one of this awesome birds, with a wonderfull pallet of colors on they feather. Good luck on your bird watching.
